What’s up with Ukraine’s media regulation in November 2023?

DSLU has published its next volume of the monthly digest on media and digital rights regulation, now covering November 2023. This series of digests provides an overview of the proposed and adopted legislation in the spheres of freedom of expression, media regulation, privacy and data protection, Internet regulation in general, and the activities of the National Broadcasting Council in the area of Media Law implementation.

In this volume, the highlights are:

  • the state budget of Ukraine for 2024 and the allocation of expenditures in the media sphere;
  • the constellation of proposed and adopted laws aimed at amending the norms on the use of languages in the media sector;
  • the dismissal of Draft Law #9463 which attempted to legalise website blocking via sanctions mechanisms;
  • the adoption of the National Broadcasting Council Strategy for 2024-2026.

As usual, the digest contains references to the documents discussed in the previous volumes of the digest and provides a follow-up to the acts and events described therein.
