DSLU has prepared its fourth volume of the monthly digest on media and digital rights regulation, now covering October 2023. This series of digests provides an overview of the proposed and adopted legislation in the spheres of freedom of expression, media regulation, privacy and data protection, Internet regulation in general, and the activities of the National Broadcasting Council in the area of Media Law implementation.
In this volume, we concentrate on:
- the proposed amendments aimed at limiting the influence of the parliamentary broadcaster – “Rada” TV channel;
- the suggested expansion of the notion of “collaborationism” and its overlap with other provisions of the Criminal Code prohibiting certain categories of speech;
- the commencement of the self-regulatory bodies’ creation, which will serve as a counterbalance to the National Broadcasting Council’s growing powers;
- the Draft Strategy of the National Broadcasting Council and its ambitious reach.
As usual, the digest contains references to the documents discussed in the previous volumes of the digest and provides follow-up to the acts and events described therein.
